Plant Propagation

Propagating lily and rose

My great grandpa passed recently and I was able to take a lily and a rose. I want to propagate them so I have something of him. However I am flying out back to where I live and I have no idea how to propagate and keep them safe during my flight. Is there any way to do this?

I was given an idea of cutting up a water bottle, put the flower part inside, and tape it so the step is going out of the bottle. So the flower is protected and then wrap the step up in wet paper towel and wrap it with plastic wrap. But I don’t know if that would actually work.

If anyone has any idea how I could do this I would love any ideas and how to’s. I also haven’t cut the rose yet but the bigger bulb on the lily tore off.

These won’t propagate, you’re better off drying, pressing, and framing the flowers as a way to remember him.

only certain plants can be propagated. If you want to keep them look into extra there seeds (not likely) or find someone who can dehydrated and Preserve them

Everything ive seen about propagating roses involves removing the flower from the stem, and having at least 2 nodes underwater. Supposedly modern hybrid roses are harder to prop, and the section of stem just below the flower is the best part to use for proping.

i however have very very little experience propping flowers, so everything ive said should only be used as search engine fodder.

Due to the significance of these, i would suggest 1: grabing as many as you can, while you can, to multiply your chances of success 2: pressing a bunch of flowers right off the bat so at LEAST you have those forever
