I have Hylocereus that although they have a Woody xylem, I have fattened them up, would It work as good to graft outside the xylem, becouse I have noticed that usually when I graft on the woody xylem, it gets rejected.
Use fresh growth..in other words graft to new growth from the same grow season, or as close to the tip as possible

Give it a try. Use a choice spach or PC offset you can spare from the back of the garden. See if you can get it to take. Problem is, when you are grafting a highly valued genetic, you want your best chance for success. I have had much lower success with lignified vascular rings on the stock face. Whether Hylocereus, spach, PC, or Grandi. Etc. Use the best stock you can for those great genetic scions. And that isn’t a hardened vascular ring on the stock. Let that plant harden off and make offsets you can use later.
