I’m getting a new shed tomorrow and I don’t have a base for it oh no so I got straight to work I started by marking out the area with some steaks and a string line I then spent 2 hours sweating until the grass disappeared yeah the jump is coming up from there I got very muddy knees leveling everything off S a bit of soil back in there I threw down some bags of sand then got very Sandy knees as well you are going to want to put down a layer of weed fabric by this point my Amazon delivery had arrived so I started laying down these plastic grids then I just needed to fill those grids up with shingle and there you have it one very quick shed base which is lucky because

In advance im only thinking what would never work where I’m from. The earth gets frozen solid down 70-90cm here in winter, the soil underneath consisting of mud and stones would absolutely not stay where it’s supposed to be after only one winter.
I would have had to dig down atleast 1-2meters and fill it up with gravel that doesn’t lift when frozen.
I sincerely hope that your method will work just fine at your location 😊
You can buy steel deck posts and build a cheap deck with 2×4 and osb for the top. It stays off the ground and is way less work to build.
Do you 100% have to fill it up with gravel. I have gravel and sand underneath it , will that suffice mate?
Will this base also be your shed floor?
When I buy a shed I make sure they do this for me.
For aco or similar geogrid systems, you should lay on 150-200mm of compacted type 1 material, then the sand. Lay the grid on the sand then the stone.

What is the purpose of the plastic grids? I've never seen those before. What would be the advantage over compacting some limestone?
