Will pond water jar thrive better inside or outside?

I collected a jar of pond water from a standard Florida neighborhood retention pond. Sorry for the boring photo there's not much to report yet. Have seen a couple snail and a few swimmy creatures though.

Would it survive better out on the back porch in the shade/partial sunlight? Or indoors with normal conditions aka little sunlight.

Part of me feels like outside is closer to natural, but it also might get far too hot. 80+ degrees in the shade, god knows what temp if any sun hits it. It's possible the heat might just kill everything same as if I microwaved the thing.

Or I leave it indoors where it gets little direct sunlight and stays mid 70s. Much different from the FL heat, but I'm sure there will be some life thriving still

It will probably just be different results, so I'm curious if anyone else has experience with these options.

No, it won’t thrive at all for various reasons:

    a) there is no air space..you need at least an inch of air in there.

    b) without a real aquatic plant (not algae) a vital key element is missing

As to your question…outside in the shade but without a lid will work. Avoid direct sunlight at all cost as it will cause algae outbreaks.

Also, check with r/Ecosphere for more detailed info.
