A variegated San Pedro crest, my new fave. Any advice on how to transplant into the pot (it does have drainage)

Baseline soil mix I use is whatever potting soil I have 50/50 with perlite or pumice.

I usually do not water for a week or so prior to repotting and after.

Smaller cactus, I’ve seen people support with ropes, rubber bands, nylon stockings… to maintain the level you want while manipulating and adding the soil. That crest doesn’t have evil thorns so you should be okay handling. Kitchen tongs, the ones for handling canning jars, pool noodles, polyfill foam, cardboard… can be useful for handling too. I often just use plant tie tape and secure the cactus to a stake or something.

Nice cactus and nice collection. Did the crest come from eBay?
