What’s the chance this becomes a full plant again?

I cut the top off my small fiddle because I hadn't seen any new growth on the rather leggy stem. It only had like four leaves up top and then then these baby suckers. Do you think this will ever grow into a full healthy fiddle again or should I snip the suckers and try my chance at propagation? It worries me that there doesn't appear to be any nodes on the stem.
