Philodendron

Warning: sad plant story ahead. Please send a medic.

This is my GORGEOUS white princess.

Love her.

Small problem, the leaves are turning yellow.

I've been picking them off to prevent them from rotting since I have her in water. There's 3 cuttings in here seperated from a larger plant.

The roots are not rotted, I check them when I see more yellowing leaves. These photos were taken one day after the next. So the leaves are dropping like flies. I'm so sad.

So I guess I have a few questions:

Is this just shock? Of being removed from a mother plant and put into water.

Is this a lighting issue? I sit her as close to a window as I can get, right now we're in a heatwave so she gets sun. I set up a temporary "grow light" which is actually a nail UV lamp, but the output is very small. I'll just leave that on 24\7 until I find a grow light.

Could this be that she has too many nodes???

And should I try taking a piece and putting it in my terrarium, where there's actual grow lights on all the time? The problem with this, is that I'd want to hot glue a small jar onto the side of my tank inside so that I can still water prop.

Advice is very appreciated. Sorry for the long read! ๐Ÿ™‚

So, I have a couple of ideas. The issue could be some shock from moving the plant to water. They will loose leaves in that situation. It could also be a water quality issue. So maybe try and not use tap water and change frequently.

I am not sure about the light. I don’t have experience with nail lights. You can get plant lights for cheap on Amazon. I have a couple of types and they work decently. You can also get grow lights from Home Depot. You can get a bulb for around $15.99 and up.

My question, maybe someone else can answer is maybe the UV light is too strong? Again no idea what the UV output of those lights are. Hope this helps!
