🌶️ To top Peepper Seedling or not For Bushy and Larger Yields ?❓#shorts#shortsfeed
🌶️ To top or not to top?❓We’ve done multiple side-by-side experiments over the years, and topping smaller chili pepper varieties when the seedlings are still young definitely makes them grow FAR more bushy – and produce larger yields! Yet we usually avoid topping bell peppers because it can potentially have a negative impact or stunt them more easily. Plus, we’ve found some bell pepper plants often top themselves! For medium size peppers (poblanos, banana peppers, etc) you can go either way, though we usually top those too.
.
Another benefit of topping/pruning peppers is that the more bushy compact growth helps shield peppers from sun scald and are easier to support compared to tall lanky plants.
.
What kinds of peppers are you growing this season? I hope this is helpful! ✅

do you top your pepper seedlings sometimes we do sometimes we don’t topping small chili peppers like jalapenos Habaneros or shidos will help them Bush out and grow more branches which means even more places to grow fruit yet it’s usually recommended to not top large thick walled bell peppers as it may stunt these plants that already produce fewer fruit and often top themselves like this plant did it’s best to top the seedlings when they’re about 5 to 6 in tall removing just the top couple sets of Leaves we also like to pluck off the flower buds from small seedlings so that the plants can focus their energy on growing larger instead of developing fruit quite yet follow along to see all the ways we use and preserve Peppers this summer
