Dark Roots vs White Roots

Finally have some new roots growing on my pothos. The new ones are white and looking very healthy so it has me questioning if the brown/black ones are rotted. I dump out half the water weekly then refill to keep it fresh and from becoming gross and potentially rotting the plant. Any comments are appreciated as this is my first time propagating
