That sucks. Most people fertilize really well a day or 2 before grafting to keep their stock plump👍

grandiflora are really bad (good?) for this. They will completely curl in and seal themselves up to heal themselves. You gotta do crazy angle cuts to keep it from happening.

I noticed if you put a piece of saran wrap over the top for the first 3 days to keep moisture it helps with this. But also what the other person said, plump it up before a graft also

I find if I put sulfur directly on a fresh cut it will do this.
