The plan is to tear out all the grass, place a clear tarp on top to kill any remaining root systems, then plant some hydrangeas and euonymus japonicus on the outer edge closer to the rocks and then as a ground cover plant some crinkle leaf creeper. Location is Washington State and I have been working with a local plant nursery to create a pollinator friendly/mostly natives “lawn”. Hopefully after this first year we can plant some native ferns!
