I recently planted a rock rose and it didn’t have any support while growing up and the trunk has a nasty split. It’s blooming and what not but I am wondering if I should consider taking half the plant off now.
Ideally I want an upward growth habit not something sprawling.
Thanks!

Not sure what others will say, but in my experience rock rose is pretty sprawling (I have two huge ones) unless you tie it up to a trellis or support.
I prune mine heavily once or twice per year. They bounce back quickly.
Mine has a split like this from last year. It’s been fine. I would say that if you absolutely want to prune it, winter before spring growth would maybe be the best time? Others here may have more informed opinions, that just feels right to me. Right now in the August heat doesn’t seem like a good idea.
