In MD 7a. Need to get ground prepped for Lesco Transition Turf type tall fescue. The area has a decent amount of smaller rocks and it looks like a lot of crab grass.
– Q4 plus first?
– Add compost and pete moss then till in (I have a 5ft tiller I can set the height on)?
– Rake out rocks?
– Q4 again or seed and water?

I’d probably go with a q4 spray, wall to wall.
Wait a week or 2. Then core aerate. Then rent a slice seeder loaded with a TTTF/perennial rye mix.
Then topdress with compost.
Water daily. Should get decent results.

Disturb the grass canopy first, rake mow etc. Then let the sprays work their magic. Follow up later with aerate and seed as temps drop and kids get back to school.
Treadmore
You’re going to want to soften them up with trebuchets and archers before you bring in your seige tower to get over that fence.
