Roughly 1-2’ in diameter. I’d say it goes 4-5’ deep and if you stick a broomstick in the sand at bottom, you can go another 4’ before hitting hard dirt.
Looks like you have a great start for a bunker! Start filling it with emergency supplies

Obviously go inside. Fraggle Rock creatures could be down there.

Some kind of pipe down there? I had a concrete storm drainage pipe break. The dirt started to fall into the broken pipe and when storm water rushed through it, it sucked the soil just above the break into the pipe and created a hole like that. I had to dig down to where the pipe broke, aligned the broken pipe the best I could, covered it with a kind of fiberglass fabric and dumped some quikrete on it, before filling in the hole.

That looks like a inter dimensional portal, we may have a Pacific Rim situation happening here.

4-5 inches or feet? A ‘ means feet, so you’re saying you can go 9 feet down before hitting hard dirt?
If it’s inches I would start digging and see if you can find anything.
If it’s feet I’d be worried and I wouldn’t step anywhere near the hole for safety’s sake. I wouldn’t even know who to call about that though.
The sandals in the pic make it look like someone got sucked in already, ha. Or perhaps grabbed by a Graboid (the monsters from the movie Tremors)

Either try to fill it, or rope it off so no one can fall in. Filling might work if it’s done doing whatever it was doing, or you could spend the rest of your life trying to fill it.
I’d avoid spending too much time in there. The potential for deadly collapse is real, and methane gas will kill you before you even know what happened.

There’s a pipe with a green cap. I bet that started it by leaking somehow
