Everyone’s saying they’re blackberries but imo that’s some dewberries. Still edible and very similar – just a wild variety. Drying them til they’re crunchy makes a yummy candy alternative (edit:spelling)

It eat that in Paris, Normandy, Auvergne, i eat in all France! Il love this fruit but is not the same blackberry in market, personally i prefer in wild

I’ve been warned against eating the ones that grow low enough for animals to pee on. Apparently you can get fox tapeworm or something. Guess they’re fine for jam though, tapeworm eggs don’t like being boiled

Roadside blackberries.. easy to find and pick in Northern California right now and parts of Oregon.. We used to pick huge bags of these in the summer months.
