Container Gardening

Shade Container Plants | Mini Design Session

The Hello Garden work van has been hard at work with multiple plant hauls! First up is a snippet of shade-loving container plants I’ll be using in client gardens. Impatiens, begonias, fuschias and loads of texture! And let’s cap it off with a little design on the fly too.

Happy gardening!
Kate

  1. Thanks for another super helpful and inspirational video. Perfect timing since I have a large shade container that is dominated by a Japanese forest grass. Loved how you placed the combination
S around it. Gave me so many ideas. Wondering if I can divide the forest grass to make more space for other plants, and maybe replace the soil with some new fresh mix?

  2. Oh Kate, Those flowers are just stunning. I never would have thought to put those colors together. Great ideas. I am going plant shopping to see what I can find with your ideas. I’m tickled with the ideas. Thanks so much. ❤Pat

  3. I have a unique situation by my front entrance. One side of my doorstep is in sun and the other in shade. I’ve solved it by using similar colors in plants that like sun and part sun/shade. It took a while to figure out but I’m finally happy with the results.

  4. I have one shade container and I find myself using the same plants every year. Lovely, but it’s time for something more inspired. This video was so helpful. Your outtakes are hilarious, feel free to end all your videos similarly. 😂🚐🌱

  15. Fabulous! Such great eye you have!
Ok my question is- what about pot color? A lot of mine are greys and neutrals… but have a couple Sage green with a terra cotta accent. How do you incorporate the color of the pot or do you? Love your channel!!! ❤
    Your bLoopers were hilarious!!!!

  16. I love your videos, Kate! The camera angles, the editing show off your fun personality.
I've gardened more than 30 years so thought I knew a lot, but it's only in the last several years I've learned so much from content creators such as yourself.
I'm chomping at the bit for our garden centers to flesh out their plant inventory. It's still too early here in Minneapolis. But I'm prepping the beds in anticipation of what's to come.

  17. Sure hope I can find that Autumnal Fushia! Will you be showing us the final arrangements? Yes please!! 🇨🇦👏🇨🇦
