As far as I understand yes it should work. I don’t know the science behind it though I’ve only ever seen photos of it done.

Yes but I believe that genus is fairly slow growing so typically peeps graft to San Pedro or Dragon Fruit or something that has a little more umph to it if you know what I mean

Yes but it is slow growing compared to San Pedro. Some people have used a pc San Pedro cactus to graft their totem cactus to grow faster.
