  1. On September 2nd, we will be hosting a live-stream right after a special episode of World War 2 in Real Time. Join us to hear directly from Spartacus and Indy, as they delve into six years of work covering World War Two in Real Time and War Against Humanity.

  2. Death from hunger, from starvation, is a particularly gruesome one, there are stories from the 1941 famine in Greece, about people dying in great agony, that would make one's blood chill…

  3. Very grateful for all the work and research which went into these WAH episodes. Quite an undertaking and time travel through the worst of what mankind can do! So far….

  4. You’re such a good writer. I will say it every episode if I have to. I’m a hs teacher and I can’t but not give you an A for writing every time I watch

  5. Two little known facts, because of the German retention of the Channel Islands, they too suffered a major shortage of food in the last year of the war. And the Red Cross had to arrange for food supplies to be allowed in, under an armistice, which stayed in place until the German surrender. Britain which had never had to ration bread during the war, was forced to introduce bread rations post war, not because Britain was basically short of grain. But because the was a world wide shortage of shipping, and ships that would have been transporting grain to Britain, being diverted to shipping grain to Europe and other nations.

  6. I think the US has not received enough (in fact not any) credit for the food aid they poured into Europe and Asia.

  7. I thought the Japanese destroyed French forces and their administration in early 1945, thus gutting the administration of Indo China. A last act of spite by the Japanese.

  8. The War may be over, but the sufferings will linger on for decades for a war that barely lasts a decade.

  9. Which reminds us about what's happening in such places as Gaza, Somalia and Siria, among others at this very moment. Regarding Gaza, it's painful to observe how the occupying army doesn't take responsibility for maintaining order and feeding the people under their control, often even hindering external relief.

  10. Little did the Japanese people know Godzilla was just a few years away….. Jokes aside this is commonly overlooked in history books. War over all is good until Korea…..

  11. The majority of intellectual peoples and intellectual institutions are not forgetting wars consequences…they rejection wars for solving problems…peace and war matter inside politicians hands..they decides wars for their's private interest or theirs country weapons industry associates

  12. Spartacus, you are a titan of spirit. Even watching your series episode after episode shook me so much, that my wife noticed a change in how I hold myself. Even though I am a historian. You expose history so intimately and particularly, with such direct lines with no blur in between, that it has actually changed the way I look at history.
And this is just from watching. I salute your ability to stay sane with this research, the things you know, the things you've seen, the things you choose to show and the things you leave out.

  13. It would take years for Europe to rebuild and recover, and in many other places, the war had reached its evil hand.
But behind the Iron Curtain, the suffering continued at the hands of Marshall Stalin. And then it was another war, then another and so on…
The war against humanity is never-ending. It also began a long time ago!

  14. My great grandfather was the garrison commander of Soviet forces Chemnitz during WW2, I don’t know how true that is however since he was only a majorm

  15. Lumpy Space Princess: “Im sorry I ate your crops, even though you look really fat, and I helped you loose some weight”

Sorry this quote is terrible in terms of the video context

  16. I'm sure you have been told this before, but you need to be auditioning for film roles. You're personality is incredible. You are doing good work with this channel, but you should find time to audition for the role of a Star Trek captain or arch villain–or as a narrator for big history documentaries. It's very clear that you could have a career as a big screen actor. Maybe it would help you and the Timeghost team get even more publicity too.

I mean, the messages and lessons you and the team work on now are extremely important. I just want to see this other thing happen too.

  17. Mark Felton has two videos about postwar (post WW2) Germany. One video is titled Occupying Germany 1945- Western Allied Military Government. Another video is titled Erasing Hitler- How The Allies Cleansed Germany of Nazism.

  18. I understand how due YouTube policies, it's difficult to state just how bad all of Europe was right after the war supposedly ended. For further information I would read Savage Continent, by Keith Lowe for a better look at the end of the war. One of the major themes of that time despite the destruction and hunger was the time spent on Revenge

  19. Imagine condemning two million people to die just because you don't want to look weak. It's a shame that you talked do little about the post-war Soviet famine

  20. Thank You Spartacus for reminding everyone the Human Toll. I understand you have a very hair thin Tightrope to walk if you ever speak of Palestine & Israel.

  21. This is the reason why I'm always grateful whenever I have food. Because having access to food is something that millions are forced to do without around the globe year in and year out. It's not something we should take for granted.

  22. Vietnam is like India and Ukraine, all suffered from famine caused by foreigners. Vietnam is like Korea, both divided by arbitrary lines drawn by ignorant and power-hungry countries. But Vietnamese is unique in the sense that we are the only nation which fought with all UN's P5: US, Russia, China, France, & Britain, yet still standing tall to this day. Throw in the Mongols at the height of its glory, and Vietnamese defeated them too – 3 times, actually. Strange, eh?
